Investigation of Factors Affecting the Intermediate-Temperature Cracking Resistance of In-Situ Asphalt Mixtures Based on Semi-Circular Bending Test

Cracking is one of the main distresses in asphalt pavement. At present, few studies have been conducted on cracking performance mixtures from field due to difficulty sample collection. Therefore, this study aims assess resistance in-service pavement at intermediate temperature using a large number cores Jiangsu province, China. A semi-circular bending (SCB) test 25 °C was field-cored samples covering three layers 16 road sections that represent combination influencing factors, including air void, mixture type, service age, cumulative equivalent single-axle loads (ESALs), and overload rate. The flexibility index (FI) tensile strength were calculated experimental data as evaluation indices. According analysis variance results, top layer, ESALs age had strong influence resistance. decline rate FI became slower with increasing ESALs. most rapid crack occurred medium-traffic-level served for over 14 years. middle replaced significant factor FI. bottom void only affecting In general, depth layer increased, effect traffic load decreased, whereas material properties increased. addition, more sensitive respectively.
